Perspectives – You Are Art

While talking to my twin brother Austin, he said something that sparked a flame. I don’t know if he thought of it or if he heard it from some other resource but just as it was given to me, I would like to give it to you. I don’t quite remember the correct wording but I will do my best to paint the same vivid picture.

Have you ever wondered why an artist will stop, step back and look at his work? Sometimes the artist will sit back and wait a long time and sometimes an artist will do it after every stroke. The reasoning why, is that sometimes for you to create the piece of art that you really want, you have to get away from it. Look at it from another point of view.

Distance yourself and look at it from a different point of view. See? Being up close to it may seem soooo perfect at first but once you take a few steps back, the artist will notice that one line isn’t straight or that the artist could shade a little more here and a little less there. To create art in the image that you truly see it to be, you have to open your mind and look at every aspect of your work in different perspectives.

Well my friend, just like art, YOU are a masterpiece in progress. Sometimes, because we are so stuck in our own heads, up close and personal, we think that everything is being done right. Sometimes we are so stuck in our ways that we limit ourselves from possibly becoming better.

You are art. There is nothing wrong with stopping what you are doing, taking a seat, and just looking at yourself from a different point of view. Look at where you want to go. Look at the lines and shadows from your past and see if there arent any stray lines that you can fix to help you create the image that you want to paint. Just like any musician, photographer, metal worker and any other artist, you are in control of what you create. Who cares what anybody else sees. Flow like that paintbrush on the canvas and be the art that know you are suppose to be.
